This Privacy Policy explains how Mexiote LLC ("Mexiote", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit mexiote.com (the "Site"), sign up for our newsletter or contact us. It applies to the Site only, not to third-party services such as DoorDash, Google Maps, Facebook or Instagram, which have their own policies.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

Newsletter sign-up: your email address, the date and time you subscribed, the page you signed up from and the version of the consent text you accepted.
Messages: anything you send us by email or phone, such as your name, contact details and the content of your message.

Information collected automatically

Server logs: our hosting provider records technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of the request, to keep the Site secure and working.
Cookies and similar technologies: only strictly necessary storage is used unless you allow more. See our Cookie Policy.

We do not sell personal information and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

2. How we use your information

To send the newsletter you asked for, including news, menu updates and offers.
To reply to your questions and requests.
To keep the Site secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
With your consent, to understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it.
To comply with legal obligations.

3. Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for the newsletter, analytics and embedded maps; on our legitimate interests for site security and answering messages; and on legal obligation where the law requires us to keep records. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before you withdrew it.

4. Sharing your information

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the Site and the newsletter (for example our web host and, if we use one, an email service provider), under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only on our instructions. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights, customers or the public. Some of these providers may process data outside your country; where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

5. How long we keep it

Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe, then removed within 30 days, except a record of the unsubscribe to make sure we do not email you again.
Messages: as long as needed to handle your request, and no longer than 24 months.
Server logs: usually no longer than 90 days, unless needed to investigate a security incident.

6. Security

The Site is served over HTTPS, newsletter data is stored outside the public web folder with restricted access, and we limit access to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will act promptly if an incident occurs.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to restrict or object to its use, to receive a copy of it and to withdraw consent. California residents may also request to know what personal information we collect and to delete it, and will not be treated differently for exercising these rights. To make a request, email cs@mexiote.com. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in every email. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Third-party links

The Site links to DoorDash, Google Maps, Facebook and Instagram. When you follow those links or load an embedded map, the third party's own privacy policy applies.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Site.
